The Engineering discipline of Macau University of Science and Technology focuses on intelligent science and systems. It has a distinguished, interdisciplinary teaching and research team, including five IEEE Fellows and six highly cited researchers recognized by ESI. In 2016, the university launched its PhD program in “Intelligent Science and Systems,” making it one of the earliest institutions to establish such a doctoral program in this field. The research areas include intelligent control, cyber-physical information systems and networked system security, intelligent manufacturing, and intelligent perception. The university has achieved global recognition for its pioneering research in parallel control and management, discrete event systems and security, and control software for high-level chip manufacturing equipment. The “Control Theory and Control Engineering” discipline at Macau University of Science and Technology is ranked among the top 76–100 worldwide.
