Associate Prof. Zhang Zhifeng-Ziran Caoben Gao Perilla Ointment

Perilla Ointment is an innovative transformation achievement of "Fresh Traditional　Chinese Medicine" developed by the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in　Chinese Medicine (Macau University of Science and Technology) through years of hard　work. Based on the promotion of local R&D and manufacturing in Macau, helps to　produce a safe and effective modern Chinese medicine skin preparation.

The project was supported by the FDCT Corporate Innovation R&D Funding Program　(023/2017/A1R) in 2018 and successfully completed the trial production in Macau. The　main active ingredient of this product is from traditional Chinese medicine of fresh　Perilla frutescens Leaf, which is a medicine food homology plant. The quality　controllable product is made by modern extraction and process technology with natural　and safe ingredients. It is widely used for eczema, acne, red swelling, and itch.

The nature and flavour of Perilla leaves are acrid and warm, which have the effects of　dispelling cold, relieving the exterior, and regulating qi-flowing for harmonizing　stomach. According to Prescriptions for Universal Relief, it can be used for external　treatment of malignant sore and scabies. The effective extraction of its active　ingredients is the result of repeated process optimization and activity screening by the　researchers. Finally, the researchers were lucky to obtain a hydrogel prepared from theactive ingredients of fresh Perilla leaves. It has a mild nature with a fragrant smell and　has been shown great effect on dependent dermatitis caused by long-term use of　hormones and skin with weeping sores. The product is suitable for a wide range of　people and is highly accepted.
